THE HIDDEN CAMERAS plus Flash Bang Band

<c:door>7pm - 10pm</c:door>
<c:venue>Audio</c:venue>

Toronto's The Hidden Cameras, a group who once described their sound as "gay church folk music", are the brainchild of singer/songwriter/guitarist Joel Gibb. "Folk" addresses not only the central motif of Gibb's strummed acoustic guitar, but the communal, open-door policy that has seen the band swell to as many as 15 on-stage members, excluding up to 15 male go-go dancers who strip down to underwear and encourage the audience to sing along to lyrics projected onto a backdrop. The group's elaborate live performances won the group a widespread and devoted following in Canada and all over the world. In association with Kilimanjaro. Over 16's only.

THE JOY FORMIDABLE plus Baddies & Airship

<c:door>7pm- 10pm</c:door>
<c:venue>Audio</c:venue>

Their material has it's roots in the vast, lonely countryside of the Clwydian borders but London has roused offshoots from the TJF bough. They have become a uniquely home-grown affair with the band driving every creative aspect, visually and musically. The band's bedroom a chrysalis, that mutates daily from sleeping quarters, to studio to workshop. It was here they recorded first singles Austere and Cradle and their 8 track CD "A Balloon called Moaning" - a defiant release of optimism against their own heavy hearts. Over 16's only.

ALPHABEAT plus Eliza Doolittle

<c:door>7.30pm</c:door>
<c:venue>Concorde 2</c:venue>

Alphabeat’s new album, The Spell, has its eyes dead set on the horizon ahead and is full of great songs built on properly affecting retro-pop styles. You’ll have heard the Mantronix-like funk-pop of first single The Spell, but there’s the slippery filter-house of DJ the piano-riff-meets-speaker-rattling bassline of melancholic-house monster, Hole In My Heart, pure heart-rate pushing dancefloor monster, the RnB touched, down-tempo reach of Q&A and the brilliantly debauched SAW-pop-goes-Ibiza throb of 365 Degrees, where pianos, kick-drums and hairspray hi-hats all get a frantic airing. Over 14's only.

THE BLOCKHEADS plus guests

<c:door>8pm</c:door>
<c:venue>Komedia</c:venue>

Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll, the Ian Dury Biopic is released on January 8th 2010 and has been praised for the central performance by Andy Serkis. The band have provided the music for the film. "Given the times those ancient Blockheads sound more here-and-now than anyone..." Uncut. "Ian Dury owed his brilliance to no one. But he owed his stardom to The Blockheads. Musically Jankel and his men keep it as tight and funky as before." Word. "Dury would be proud." Mojo. Over 14's only, under 16's to be accompanied by an adult.
