Lead by the incomparable Phil Lynott, the band reached many peaks and influenced generations of musicians with classic tracks such as “Jailbreak”, “The Boys Are Back In Town”, “Still In Love With You”, “Cold Sweat”, “Emerald” and “Don’t Believe A Word”. Most rock historians would agree the pinnacle of their commercial success was in 1983, followed by the bands’ premature demise, as they played their last gig in September of 1984. Just two years later, the world was shocked when singer/bassist and founding member Phil Lynott passed away at the age of thirty six. Twenty five years have passed, the world has changed, but the amazing body of work that is Thin Lizzy still retains all of its vibrancy and influence. A new lineup has formed to take Lizzy’s music to a whole new generation of music fans. Led by alumni Scott Gorham, Brian Downey and Darren Wharton (all of whom played in Thin Lizzy with Phil Lynott) the stellar lineup is completed by Guns N Roses Richard Fortus (guitar), Bassist Marco Mendoza (Whitesnake, Ted Nugent) and The Almighty’s Ricky Warwick on vocals and guitar. Roots Manuva returns with a new single and it’s one of the standout cuts from the acclaimed “4everevolution,” the brooding, magnificent “Here We Go Again.” Over an intense, thunderous collision of hip hop, techno and dubstep, Rodney Smith aka Roots Manuva drops lyrics about an old friendship gone bad: “something in his life isn’t right with him/ He’s caught up in the hype and it bites within.” A clear-eyed, deadpan exposition of the dangers, temptations and, more cuttingly, childishness of “street life,” Smith is keen to emphasise he isn’t preaching. Everything he says applies to himself as much as anyone else and a fate he avoided more through luck than judgement. The tune is finished off perfectly by a pure, soulful chorus from Spikey Tee. Spikey Tee was originally part of seminal British hip-hop-ragga-soul collective the Sindecut (Virgin Records), but these days is better well known for his work with Mr Scruff, Jah Wobble, Sola Rosa and Bomb The Bass. Now based in Australia he works on occasion with up and coming producer Dizz1. When Dizz1 played him the beat for “Here We Go Again” he immediately told him it was perfect for Roots Manuva. A few emails and phonecalls later and the tune began to come together, a mixture of menace and beauty which, in its grace and the urgency of its message, shows an artist as relevant as ever. Four Year Strong, have confirmed that they will release their new album “In Some Way, Shape, or Form.” in the UK on Island Records on November7th. The first single to be taken from the album will be “Stuck In The Middle”. The new material reflects a slight change of musical direction for the band and showcases a number of great rock tracks from the band. The band have now slimmed down to a four piece and comprise, Dan O'Connor (Vocals/Guitar), Alan Day (Vocals/Guitar), Jake Massucco (Drums), and Joe Weiss (Bass), who formed in Massachusetts in 2001 after O'Conner, Day, and Massucco met through mutual friends – they shared influences like Lifetime, Saves the Day, Gorilla Biscuits, and New Found Glory. Their distinct sound and incredibly energetic live shows has led to their inclusion on countless tours and also caught the attention of Fallout Boy's Pete Wentz, who signed FYS to his label Decaydance Records in February 2008. Rough Trade Records are excited to announce our newest signing Howler’s debut album ‘America (Give Up)’, set for release on 16th January 2012. The full-length follows the Minneapolis five-piece’s well-received 2011 EP ‘This One’s Different’. Howler is the brainchild of the band’s 19-year-old frontman, Jordan Gatesmith. In an era of perpetual social networking, downloading and gig spam, they’re planning to self-release their debut album on a series of limited-edition 7” vinyls adorned with pictures of famous British inventors, downloads available only via codes that come with the record. Familiar to a faithful following as the most recognisable voice in Mercury Prize-winning Southport five-piece Gomez, Ben Ottewell has ventured far further than Manchester’s Piccadilly station – the subject of a right ol’ whipping, you may recall – to record his debut solo album. All the way to Los Angeles, in fact, where he worked alongside co-producer Will Golden and, subsequently, Liars and Warpaint mixer Tom Biller to shape these nine tracks into their final forms. Not exactly touched by the Californian rays in terms of tone, there’s a definite difference between the mischievousness of Gomez, particularly on their first two LPs, and this rather more mature and heartfelt set. Ottewell swiftly imposes himself on proceedings, showcasing a voice with greater depth than some fair-weather fans of past ventures may have given him credit for. There’s a real richness to his words on the album’s lead single, Lightbulbs – a richness that’s roughed-up at the edges, for sure, but its core is warm and sincere. Come the next track, All Brand New, his gentle sighs are burdened by a tangible emotional weight. He may be referring to "a hot summer breeze dancing on warm skin", but the song’s delicate design is a million compositional miles away from the rollicking West Coast rock purveyed by so many since the 1960s. Typically sparse, these acoustic arrangements – co-written with Sam Genders, formerly of Tunng – allow plenty of space for Ottewell’s voice to dominate. But when they grow busier, the mood changes – No Obstacles is a simple, but effective, song about overcoming odds and aiming for whatever prize illuminates the spaces behind one’s eyes. It ensures that Shapes and Shadows isn’t quite the singularly paced affair that so many man-and-guitar discs prove to be. Step Right Back is a pretty waltz of a folk-rocker that seems to touch upon the topic of separation from a loved one – though studied metaphors convey some ambiguity – and gentle finger-picked closer Take This Beach is a haunting curtain-down that lingers in the memory. A comparison to Nick Drake, an artist regularly misplaced in critiques, fits comfortably here. With Gomez still a going concern, this solo effort – five years in the making – is very much a side project finally realised. But Ottewell should consider a follow-up, as there’s much more to recommend here than on recent releases by other indie band singers turned so-so solo artists. Over 14's only.

‘All Eyes’ is the thundering reintroduction to outstanding four-piece, Post War Years - due out 5th December on fledgling independent, ‘Labour of Love’. Post War Years (Simon, Henry, Tom and Fred) coalesced in Leamington Spa in 2008, but came to prevalence at the height of math-rock in 2009 with the release of their left-field debut, ‘The Greats and the Happenings’, which Rough Trade hailed as “one of the most interesting and innovative debuts to be released this year.” Since their debut, the band have left their basement studio and begun work with producer and award winning remixer James Rutledge (MGMT, Grizzly Bear, Late of The Pier, My Bloody Valentine, The Kills) on their second album due for release in 2012. ‘All Eyes’, mixed by Rich Costey (Muse, Bloc Party, Rage Against the Machine, Interpol), is a full on sound collage of cerebral and Avant-garde ideas. Abrasive Battles like beats, inexorable Vek like synths and delightfully fucked up vocals march Post War Years into new and exciting musical territory. “If my last record was a chrysalis,” says Fionn, “100 Acres Of Sycamore is the butterfly.” For Fionn Regan, albums exist in real-life settings. His first, 2006’s The End Of History, lives by the sea, in his childhood hometown of Bray, County Wicklow. His second, 2010’s The Shadow Of An Empire, lives in the city. “There’s a lot of America in it, maybe a bit of London,” he says, nodding at the Soho streets beyond the walls of the dingy London pub where he nurses a Moscow Mule. His new album, 100 Acres Of Sycamore, resides in the forest, in the mountains, and in Deia, Majorca The butterfly began to emerge when Regan returned from touring, in a wilderness period that saw him travel on a pilgrimage of sorts to Deia, Mallorca. A chance meeting with actress Anna Friel in Valencia, and a conversation about Robert Graves’ book The White Goddess, led Anna to invite Fionn to stay at her home in the ancient village, and most of the album was written there “being in Deia was like waking up inside the walls of a dream, as a place it had a profound effect on me” he says “the silver deposits in the mountains give them a luminous glow in the moonlight, I stayed up for days on end” says Regan. “I went to the edge in my head to a certain extent, and I documented it. These songs are essentially the wings which stopped me from falling to the rocks at that time.” Over 18's only. In association with Mean Fiddler.

Formed in Downpatrick, Northern Ireland by Tim Wheeler (vocals and guitar), Mark Hamilton (bass) and Rick McMurray (drums), Ash released their first studio album ‘1977’ and were then joined by Charlotte Hatherley (guitar) for a further 3 studio albums ‘Nu-Clear Sounds’, ‘Free All Angels’ and ‘Meltdown’. Charlotte left the band in 2006 and the band went on to record and release ‘Twilight of the Innocents’ before launching the innovative A-Z series which saw the band release a single every fortnight for a year. Bloc Party’s Russell Lissack has joined the band on stage since 2010. October 2011 saw Ash play some special live shows to mark the release of 'The Best of Ash' and Charlotte performed with the band once more for the UK tour. Kentish Town siblings Kitty, Daisy & Lewis are a group of highly talented and original musicians who play more or less anything they can lay their hands on. Their musical references and skills are rooted in the old tradition where songs and music are handed down and played and enjoyed at gatherings of family and friends. The music is a mix up of dirty R'n'B & blues, whiskey soaked country, haunting Hawaiian jungle drums and Gospel fever with a punch in the face by Daisy's hard beatboxing. The last time Blancmange did a major interview, it was 1986 and they had just been chased down a motorway by a group of girls. This was not an uncommon experience for Neil Arthur and Stephen Luscombe, the two members of the duo who, along with Human League, Soft Cell, Depeche Mode, Yazoo and OMD, made edgy but accessible synthpop with croony vocals the de rigueur sound of the early-to-mid-80s. Why were the pair being chased by said gaggle of excitable young women? Because at the time – i.e. between 1982 and 1985 – Blancmange had seven top 40 hits and two top 40 albums and they were bona fide, if unlikely, pop stars. Over 14's only.

For the past seventeen years Conley has been bearing his soul and reinventing his musical identity with each successive step, a process that is clearly culminating with Saves The Days seventh full-length Daybreak. The third part of a trilogy that also includes 2006’s Sound The Alarm and 2007’s Under The Boards, the act’s latest disc sees Conley moving past the anger and frustration that has defined the band’s last two albums and rediscovering a sense of wonder with the world that he can’t wait to share with his listeners. The Pigeon Detectives arrived alongside a flurry of other similar indie guitar bands on a wave post Arctic Monkeys but have stood the test of time and remained as one of the very few who still sound as fresh and original as their first critically acclaimed album. Wait For Me was a punchy, loud and abrasive debut with massive tracks such as Romantic Type, I Found Out and Take Her Back. Their follow up, Emergency, was released less than a year later and went straight into the UK album charts at number 5, continuing in the vain of modern northern indie rock. London based Summer Camp create the kind of utterly mesmeric, sepia-toned dream pop which seems predestined to form the perfect soundtrack to first kisses and adolescent crushes; romance and yearning. The melancholic “Ghost Train”, for instance, sounds not unlike girl groups from the 60’s wrapped in a warm blanket of lo-fi gauze and dusted lightly with pure pop sugar. This did not go unnoticed by hip London label Moshi Moshi, responsible for discovering and launching the careers of amongst others, Kate Nash, Hot Chip and Friendly Fires, and they released the track in March 2010 to much critical acclaim. ‘A’ Listed on BBC6 music and now named in the top 50 tracks of the year in NME Magazine, Ghost Train is a much adored pop song which cemented Summer Camp’s position as one of the most exciting new prospects of the year. The duo went on to release an EP of tracks in autumn 2010 after storming the UK festivals. They are currently penning their debut record, due for release early summer 2011. Hotly-tipped London newcomers King Krule have announced plans for a debut UK tour this November. The four-piece, who are led by singer Archy Marshall and recently featured in the Radar section of NME, formerly went under the name Zoo Kid. They released their debut single 'Out Getting Ribs'/'Has This Hit' in April 2010, but have so far not toured the UK. The magnificent Patrick Wolf will embark on a headline UK tour in October and November this year. On the sleeve of the new British Sea Power album sits a picture of a three-legged horse. The horse is a nod to some inspirational thoughts from the late Czech writer Bohumil Hrabal – his suggestion that there’s nothing to beat placing bets on three-legged horses with beautiful names. Such bewitching Central European musings and the band’s tripod horse, of course, only exist in the world of art and imagination. But, in the real world, British Sea Power really do have a horse. Or, at least, the racehorse British Sea Power, a recent runner at Kempton Park, was named after the band (the owners were kind enough to ask permission). Somewhere out on the oceans there’s also a big three-masted yacht named after the band. These transferences of dreams into reality are maybe emblematic of this most audacious of bands. Here is a group who have sung of the Carpathian mountains, atomic particles and Scandinavian sea lanes while playing some wonderfully idiosyncratic concerts. Yet they’ve also reached the top ten of the album charts and sold out prestigious shows across the globe. Again in the words of Bohumil Hrabal, BSP are a band where “the unbelievable came true”. There’s a thin line between rock’n’roll and religion, and nowhere thinner than in the intense, sharp, sweat-drenched, duelling-guitar euphoria of Mona. The four-piece Nashville-based band – or family, or gang, or band of brothers – are young, charismatic punk preachers. They’ll testify to the thrill they get from hunkering down in a Nashville, Tennessee basement, writing and recording the best debut album of 2011. They’ll hymn the praises of visceral rock with heavenly fireworks in its soul. They want to convert everyone they come across. This, by the way, isn’t the old God-and-the-devil schticky music-biz hyperbole. Three- quarters of Mona did learn their music – how to play, how to perform, how to work a crowd – in church: frontman/guitarist Nick Brown and drummer Vince Gard in a Pentecostal Charismatic congregation, bass player Zach Lindsey in a Southern Baptist congregation. For all three, while they were growing up, secular music was frowned upon, and transporting an audience – the congregation – was paramount. With only weeks until the release of his eagerly anticipated debut album, ‘Young Pilgrim’ and following the success of his first ever headline June/July tour where he played to sell out crowds in Glasgow, Newcastle, Manchester and Bristol, Charlie Simpson today announced he’ll be heading back on the road in October to play eight UK shows to even bigger crowds, including a date at London’s Islington Academy. After spending six months of last year holed up writing in his London studio, Charlie joined forces with acclaimed producer Danton Supple (Coldplay, Doves) to begin recording the album. On the 15th August 2011 Baxter Dury will release his third album ‘Happy Soup’ through Regal Recordings. Produced by Craig Silvey (Arcade Fire, Arctic Monkeys, Portishead) and recorded in Baxter’s hometown of London, the album will be released in digital and CD format. ‘Claire’ is the first single to be taken from it, released on 1st July. ‘Happy Soup’ is worlds away from the darkness and romantic disappointments of previous LPs ‘Len Parrot’s Memorial Lift’ (2002) and ‘Floor Show’ (2005), so much so that Dury refers to his new effort as “seaside psychedelia”. Its ten tracks narrate everyday tales of dancing on the patio in Marigolds and seedy sex in Portugal, yet Baxter’s lyrical playfulness and acute character analysis ensure the songs are anything but mundane. Just take the amusing picture painted of London’s Portobello Road in love song ‘Trellic’ or ‘The Sun’ in which Madelaine Heart’s honeyed guest vocals swim in-between bursts of Baxter’s mad, infectious laughter and colourful, rippling guitars. Welcome, folks, to the delightful, slanted and enchanted world of CONNAN MOCKASIN. Like David Lynch’s wilfully surrealist take on American suburbia, or Richard Prince’s paintings investigating modern cultural tropes, the New Zealand born, current London resident Mockasin makes beautiful, off-kilter music which subverts as it compels, challenges as it mesmerists, startles as it seduces, even drawing fans as diverse as Johnny Marr and Radiohead to Ed Banger chief and ex Daft Punk manager Pedro Winter into its wide-eyed, childlike exploration into the final frontiers of pop music. It is all too rare, in this current climate of manufactured pop acts, grey over produced 'alternative' guitar music and press-fuelled mania for the next-big-thing, to hear something truly striking and original, but a strong case can most certainly be made for Connan to be a true pop auteur, taking his rightful place in a proud lineage which includes past mavericks such as Joe Meek and Brian Wilson, right through to current cult heroes like Ariel Pink, Sufjan Stevens and John Maus. Charles And Rebecca Are Slow Club. They hail from Sheffield and are a sort of one man band. Only with two people. He strums guitar and sings and she plays drums and all sorts of weird instruments, like water-filled glass bottles, spoons and the back of a wooden chair. And sometimes an organ called Miles. Not something you get to see and hear every day. The effect is rockabilly and somewhat folksy but thankfully their songs are fairly jolly affairs without a bit of teenage angst in sight. Cloud Control will release Gold Canary, one of the standout tracks from their debut album Bliss Release, as a single on 15 August. The band released Bliss Release in the UK in May to critical acclaim, including 4* reviews in Q, The Times and The Guardian. Concocted between the rocky outcrop of the Blue Mountains and the hard place that is Sydney’s former Red Light District, Bliss Release is harmonic pop as eccentric as David Byrne and as modishly psychedelic as early Jefferson Airplane, swathed in layers of analogue reverb and with an outlook of an epic vastness. The Perfect Darkness tour will see Fink hit 49 stages in England, Scotland, Ireland, Northern Ireland, France, Belgium, Germany, The Netherlands, Denmark, Spain, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Poland in 2 months. The show will debut in Brighton’s St. Mary’s Church on September 23rd. Fink has teamed up with award-winning international designers 59 Productions, who have designed the visuals for smash hit West End and Broadway productions such as War Horse, as well as beautiful and arresting stage shows for musicians such as Jónsi. Together they have created a bespoke lighting installation which, merged with custom-shot projections, creates a totally unique and highly dynamic stage environment for the music. All ages welcome. We are delighted to report that Conor J O’Brien from Villagers will come to Komedia on Saturday 2nd July! They have recently won an Ivor Novello Award in the category “Best Song Musically and Lyrically” for the wonderful Becoming a Jackal from Villagers’ debut album of the same title. Villagers recently supported Elbow on their UK Arena Tour. The band will be back on the road throughout May with a Shepherds Bush Empire show in London on Saturday 21st. We Are Scientists are continuing with their beat-driven, melodic and lyrically slick escapades for a 2011 tour accompanied by their notoriously weird, wacky and wonderful stage antics. Following the huge success of last month's Kerrang! Tour, Tennessee five-piece Framing Hanley are set to return to the UK with their biggest headline tour to date. Hailing from Kingston London, British singer songwriter and producer Jamie Woon graduated from the Brit School a year behind Amy Winehouse and has gone onto to widespread acclaim in 2010 for his single Night Air following his previous independent release Wayfaring Stranger. In January 2011 he was placed 4th in the BBC's Sounds Of 2011 Poll and has also supported Amy Winehouse on her UK tour. London’s The Duke Spirit triumphantly return with a collection of new songs, entitled Bruiser, set for release in Spring 2011. ROLO TOMASSI are pleased to announce the release of ETERNAL YOUTH, an anthology collection of rare and non-album material, which will be the first original release on DESTINATION MOON, the band's own label. Tim has been involved in the British music industry since the early 80’s gaining recognition as lead singer of the Manchester band James who have had 17 top thirty singles and sold over 12 million records worldwide. In 1995 Tim collaborated with film composer Angelo Badalamenti (of Twin Peaks fame) and recorded “Booth and the Bad Angel,” released in 1996. In 2004, working with producer Lee ‘Muddy’ Baker and songwriter KK (Kevin Kerrigan), Tim released his second collaborative album, “Bone”, which received general acclaim and saw Tim tour throughout the UK and Europe with his band The Individuals. Since 2007 James have released Hey Ma and The Morning After/The Night Before and have been touring extensively throughout the UK and Europe, North America and South America. “Love Life” is Tim’s third solo album, once more working with Lee ‘Muddy’ Baker and KK. 2010 saw My Passion emerge as one of the most exciting new British rock bands. With two EPs and a handful of remixes, Mount Kimbie have opened a portal into the world of post-dubstep, electronic fusion soundscaping. 'Crooks & Lovers' is their much anticipated debut album, an assured statement comprised of crafty complexities and coherently juxtaposed angles making use of the freedom from any immediate dancefloor demands. With their releases landing on HotFlush and their inclusion in the catch-all net of dubstep, you'd be forgiven for thinking they're a purely dancefloor act but there's many more elements at play within Mount Kimbie that we've always felt would better lend them to the album format. The shards of acoustic guitars, crying-on-the-dancefloor vocals and jazz arrangements woven into their singles are given more time to develop here, from the vocal glossolalia of 'Adriatic', sounding like an XX experiment recorded on a 10th storey balcony, to the woozy underwater accordian and nautical atmospherics of 'Ode To Bear' or the Bohren And Der Club Of Gore-style dark jazz closer 'Between Time', indulging their esoteric inclinations with finesse. Lucy Rose is an elfin 21 year old songwriter with a voice that people instantly fall for. In her slight frame she combines purity of musical purpose, a beautifully grainy voice and a passionate songwriter's instincts with a thirst for Guinness, a deranged sense of humour and a disrespect for pop's history which comes naturally to someone born in 1989. She grew up in the countryside and escaped to London aged 19 to lead the life of teenage troubadour, dragging her guitar around town playing heartbending songs to drunk builders in East end pubs. Native Californian, now transplanted to Manchester, the beguiling Jesca Hoop returns with the brand new ‘Snowglobe’ EP and a UK tour this spring. Hoop was adopted by Elbow’s Guy Garvey, who showcased Hoop as main support on two US tours and a national UK jaunt. Garvey also duetted with Hoop on her memorable ‘Murder of Birds’ song, described by the likes of Word as “literally, startling”. When you think of Palm Beach, Florida, what comes to mind? Palm trees swaying gently in the balmy breeze? Based in Brooklyn, NY, Sleigh Bells is the musical collaboration of Derek E. Miller (songwriter, guitarist, producer) and Alexis Krauss (vocalist, lyricist). The two met and formed in 2008, when Miller was waiting tables on Alexis and her mother at a neighborhood Brazilian restaurant. Born Ruffians are actually four Canadians, and they make indie-pop in a traditional sense that old-school collectors of 4AD and Sub Pop's early roster would raise more than an eyebrow at. In a similar vein to fellow XL artists Tapes'n Tapes, they owe a large debt to the likes of Pixies and Buffalo Tom, yet at no point does this record sound retro or plagiaristic. Over 16's only.

Based in Brooklyn, NY, Sleigh Bells is the musical collaboration of Derek E. Miller (songwriter, guitarist, producer) and Alexis Krauss (vocalist, lyricist). The two met and formed in 2008, when Miller was waiting tables on Alexis and her mother at a neighborhood Brazilian restaurant. Toronto's The Hidden Cameras, a group who once described their sound as "gay church folk music", are the brainchild of singer/songwriter/guitarist Joel Gibb. "Folk" addresses not only the central motif of Gibb's strummed acoustic guitar, but the communal, open-door policy that has seen the band swell to as many as 15 on-stage members, excluding up to 15 male go-go dancers who strip down to underwear and encourage the audience to sing along to lyrics projected onto a backdrop. L.A.�s finest, The Bronx, return to these shores in late February to headline the Shred Yr Face 2 package tour alongside Fucked Up & Rolo Tomassi. The Bronx released their third self-titled album, digitally, in November through Wichita. The album will get a physical release on January 26th 2009. Recorded with Dave Schiffman (Mars Volta, System of A Down, Rage Against the Machine) in the group�s studio �The Big Game Lodge� in Van Nuys CA. the record is simple, sloppy, out of tune and out of time. It�s also the genre that started off with a bold adventurism but became mired in bass solos and music so long-windedly dull that, in 1976, the punk explosion was a matter of life and death. Prog is what the Secret Machines get labelled. With big tunes and the sense that bountiful narcotics could enhance their gigs, the lineage is clear. The brainchild of singer/guitarist Kevin Barnes, Of Montreal were among the second wave of bands to emerge from the sprawling Elephant 6 collective. A native of Athens, GA, Barnes was inspired to form the euphoric indie pop group in the wake of a broken romance with a woman from Montreal. He signed with Bar/None Records while living in Florida, subsequently moved to Cleveland and Minneapolis in search of compatible bandmates, and finally returned home to collaborate with bassist Bryan Helium (also a member of Athens' Elf Power) and drummer Derek Almstead. Arguably the biggest band in Australia right now is Sneaky Sound System. Their single �I Love It� had the longest chart run in Oz history, their debut album has gone twice platinum and at one point they had four singles in the Top 40. They played the Antipodean Live Earth concert, supported Robbie Williams, and cleaned up at the Arias, the down-under version of the Brits. The Cancer Bats have come to destroy. Did that... made beats, wrote tunes an learned a few lessons in life and music on the way. Quit the studio life in search of a dream... so I started doing open mics... got mad love, got taken seriously, got signed, got a band 2gether... toured loads, recorded my album... so here i am, living a dream.

Until There's Nothing Left of Us" is a pleasing pity party with lustful urgency and an abundance of codependent resentment. Would you expect less from a lead singer who named his band after murderous intentions for his ex-girlfriend? Despite the inconsolable attitude of Kill Hannah's intimate lyrics, the slightly nasal vocals are a far cry from emo whining. We are the next link in the evolutionary chain of contemporary pop music, mixing drums, bass, and electric guitar, an almost unheard of combination, with bits of harmonium, piano and plenty of �hootin and hollerin� to create a sound we call �the best we could come up with!�

In early 2002, Mark Kozelek assembled Sun Kil Moon with former Red House Painter Anthony Koutsos, Black Lab bassist Geoff Stanfield, and erstwhile American Music Club drummer Tim Mooney. Their debut LP, Ghosts of the Great Highway, appeared to wide critical acclaim in late 2003, and Kozelek assembled a new touring band to support its release, spending the better part of 2004 on the road. He also continued his film career, again playing a fictional musician in the 2005 big-screen adaptation of Steve Martin's comedic novella -Shopgirl. That summer, Kozelek joined with Low's Alan Sparhawk in the classic-rock cover band the Retribution Gospel Choir, issuing a tour-only EP in advance of the second Sun Kil Moon album, the much maligned Tiny Cities, a collection of covers by indie rock band Modest Mouse. These four tracks emulate some of the true twee pop greats such as Bis and Girlfrendo. �Those Dancing Days�, the northern soul inspired song which the band are named after, could easily fit onto the soundtrack of Austin Powers. �Hitten,� possibly the band�s signature tune is a fizzy pop number which will have you singing along instantly. If this band are not the next big thing I am willing to bet my life savings that one of the members of this group will feature on a Top Twenty selling Swedish album within the next five years. The Maccabees announce surprise tour of intimate venues to unveil new songs. was born with the name Ricardo Terfry. My dad started calling me Buck 65 the day I was born. I don't know why. That's the truth. A lot of stories have been made up about where the name comes from, some of them by me. I've lied about it. But "where does the name come from?" is a boring question. And the truth is, I don't even know myself.

But Sandi tends to do things her own way, no matter how unconventional that may be. Which is why she recorded the whole of her second album, �The Pink & The Lily� in the basement of her flat in Tooting. �I like my own surroundings,� she smiles. �And I like being in control. For me it�s about being comfortable, being able to relax and not be intimidated. In fact I probably did most of my vocals in my pyjamas � I�d get out of bed, make a cup of tea, go downstairs and just do it! And it was great having that freedom.�

Fink returns to him hometown after his sold out Redroaster show in October! Following the break-out "Biscuits for Breakfast" LP, Ninja Tune's Fink is back a year later with a fresh collection of heart-pounding, road-tested songs. "Distance and Time" is an evolution for Fink - created from hundreds of shows worth of experience, travel, thought, and performance. The album has been produced by Andy Barlow (Lamb) and sees Fink accompanied by collaborators Guy Whittaker on bass and Tim Thornton on drums - a band who know exactly what they're doing.

New Yorks MGMT are definately ones to watch in 2008! Championed at CMJ festival, loved by the NME and generally brilliant. They will also be releasing there debut record through Columbia Records.

Following in the footsteps of LIFETIME, GORILLA BISCUITS, and SAVES THE DAY, SET YOUR GOALS espouse a brand of positive hardcore punk that has sadly been absent in the music scene in recent years. Recognized as one of the �100 bands you need to know in 2006� by Alternative Press, the band has already gained both respect from critics and ardent fans in their relatively brief career. The band formed in early 2004, as an outlet to play the type of music they loved listening to. From there it grew into what it is now- a dedicated group of guys that have honed their songwriting abilities and are constantly on tour. The band has even persevered and stayed positive despite the theft of their trailer and the rebuilding of their van�s transmission (four times). Over 14s welcome.

Elliot Minor is a five-piece from York whose music is an explosive collision of Rock and Classical. The music is daring and unafraid�Racing pianos, driving guitars, sweeping violins and crashing cymbals harmonize in a symphony of sound, evoking the stories and emotions of frontman, Alex Davies. The songs are arranged around Elliot, the band�s piano, and they are rich with minor and dissonant chords, hence the name, Elliot Minor.

The Atlanta-based Manchester Orchestra is a constantly changing line-up of musicians who enjoy creating captivating music, and an unforgettable live show. In just a few month�s time, the tightly-knit musical force has emerged as one of the most mesmerizing and dynamic young bands in the region, embracing the sweeping, melodic, emotional territory mined by such seminal artists as Dismemberment Plan, Grandaddy and The Weakerthans.

Alice McLaughlin writes and sings magnificent, soulful pop, tinged with blues and folk, evoking the fierce and the fragile and crossing mainstream appeal with leftfield spirit. Passion and spontaneity are at the heart of her lyrics and music. Alice lives a simple, no frills life in north London�s canal boat community, where she recorded many demos on her narrowboat.

Every great band needs its thunderbolt. Y'know, the charismatic rock god guy who joins the band, sacks the crap drummer, brings in a new keyboardist, writes most of their huge hit songs, insists on playing all the guitars and singing and transforms them into a globe slam-dunking rock Atlas. Oasis had Noel. The Clash had Strummer. And One Night Only have George Craig. Shaggy of hair, snarly of lip and with the indie god gene throbbing deep in his marrow, George joined what was, in 2003, a not-entirely-hopeful Beatles covers act from Helmsley, North Yorkshire, made up of older schoolfriends from his secondary school. He insisted on playing guitar and singing. He began writing most of their best songs. He brought in a new keyboard player. Drummer Sam Ford, presumably spotting a pattern emerging here, must have feared a putsch on his stool but was thankfully deemed good enough to survive. Over 16s welcome.

In her own words... I am one of founding members and primary songwriters in Espers. I was suggested to, then recruited by Brooke based on the Baird Sisters work, and for a general reputation for being "folky" (not really a compliment from the peers who connected us). It isn't untrue that once together we spent a great deal of time in candlelight over wooden floors listening for breaks from city noise to hit record again.

A national showcase with many great prizes up for grabs including festival slots and a tour van for the winners of the London finale. The Brighton show includes four hotly tipped local bands including My Federation, Laser Crabs, Sheeva and Welfare Mothers. Over 18s welcome.
